FOSTER YOUTH SUCCESS PROGRAM (FYSP)
The Foster Youth Success Program (FYSP) supports current and former foster youth and homeless/unaccompanied youth reaching for higher education.
Program Overview:
- Provides individual Support and hands-on guidance from application to degree completion
- Provides academic, personal, and career counseling
- Assistance with completion of the financial aid application, scholarships and Chafee Grant, if eligible
- Priority registration
- Career exploration, transfer planning, and competition of student education plan (SEP)
- Free school supplies and hygiene kits (contingent upon funding)
Eligibility Criteria:

Be enrolled at Porterville College

Open to all ages of students who have experience at least one of the following:

Foster Care
- Legal Guardianship
- Emancipation
- Homeless Youth as defined by the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act

Documentation/verification required, assistance will be provided

Complete of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application
