Porterville College Faculty & Staff Energized for Spring Semester at FLEX Day

On Friday, January 17th, Porterville College (PC) held its bi-annual FLEX Day, a dedicated day for professional development and training for faculty and staff. The entire campus community gathered to celebrate our shared goal: to serve the students of Porterville College.
The event began with inspiring remarks from Kern Community College District (KernCCD) Chancellor Dr. Steven Bloomberg, setting a positive and energizing tone for the day. KernCCD Board of Trustees President John Corkins and PC Interim President Primavera Monarrez also addressed the attendees, highlighting the successes of the past year and providing guidance for the upcoming semester. President Monarrez emphasized the importance of placing student success at the core of all our endeavors.
Throughout the day, a diverse range of workshops and informational sessions were offered. Topics covered included campus safety, planning for the upcoming PC Welcome Day event, and the ongoing educational partnership with the Tule River Tribal Council. Additionally, faculty and staff had the opportunity to explore topics ranging from the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the classroom to the role of social justice in education.
FLEX Day provided a valuable opportunity for faculty and staff to connect, learn, and prepare for the arrival of students for the Spring Semester. The event reinforced our commitment to providing a high-quality and supportive educational experience for all Porterville College students.
