PC splits doubleheader at Chabot
HAYWARD – Charlee Rosenberry went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI to help lead Porterville College
to a 5-1 win at Chabot College in the opening game of a non-conference doubleheader
on Saturday.
Unfortunately, the Pirates couldn't keep the momentum going and suffered a 13-4, six-inning
loss in the finale. The doubleheader wrapped up a four-game opening weekend that saw
Porterville start off the season with a 1-3 record.
On Saturday, PC scored single runs in the top of the second and third before putting
the game out of reach with a three-run, fourth-inning rally. Rosenberry had the big
blow, a two-run single to spark the surge.
Taylor Norman (1 RBI) and Kayla Ponting (1 run) both went 3 for 4 from the top two spots in the lineup. Alysa Hernandez and Lulu Flores added 2 hits each.
Hernandez earned the win in the circle. She went the distance, allowing a run and
6 hits over 7 innings.
Porterville fell behind early in Game 2 as Chabot jumped out to a 10-0 lead after
three innings. Monea Posadas led PC at the plate, going 2 for 3 with 2 RBI.
On Friday, Porterville kicked off the 2024 season with a pair of games at West Valley
College. The Pirates fell 9-0 in five innings to host West Valley and dropped a 14-1
contest in five innings to Mendocino College. Rubi Guzman hit an RBI single for the lone run against Mendocino.
The Pirates are back in action next Friday (Feb. 2) when they host Cuesta College
in their home opener, a non-conference doubleheader. Game 1 is set for 12 p.m.
