Road Construction Completion delayed to mid-February
Here is the latest update on the E. College Avenue Road project.
The construction of the new road connection has been progressing over the break; however, the contractor has pushed back the expected completion date to mid-February after facing continued construction challenges and delays due to weather.
This means the project will still be underway at the end of the month when the spring semester begins. The PC Administration and Athletics Parking Lots on College Avenue will remain closed so traffic can be diverted around construction.
As you return to campus, remember to drive safely and obey the detour signage and posted speed limits.
Here are a few things to remember about the project:
-
There is only one entry and one exit to the Jamison Stadium parking lot from Main Street. In order to increase traffic safety, there is now only ONE EXIT at the Northernmost gate on Main Street (Gate 3) and ONE ENTRANCE at the Southernmost gate on Main Street (Gate 5). See the map below.
-
There is no parking, stopping, pick-up, or drop-off permitted inside the traffic lanes that are running through the college parking lots. Please keep traffic moving through this detour as much as possible.
-
No U-Turns are permitted on College Avenue for any reason.
-
The Speed limit of 15 miles per hour will be enforced inside the PC Parking lot road detour. Please make sure you are watching for people crossing the road at all times as students head to and from school at PC, Vandalia Elementary, and Pioneer Middle School on foot.
-
All PC Students should be dropped off at the rear of campus (in the parking lot with entry from Plano Avenue). When dropping students off, please avoid taking U-Turns and follow the normal flow of traffic through the lots. It is not safe to be dropped off at the front side of campus. In order to avoid hazards for pedestrians, we ask that all PC students be dropped off at the rear of campus.
-
FOR OUR SWAP MEET CUSTOMERS: Swap meet parking is at the rear of campus (enter from Plano Street). Please avoid parking on College Avenue, or in dirt areas on Plano street.
Again, we thank you for your patience and understanding through this lengthy and sometimes confusing project. We will continue to keep you updated as any changes happen or issues arise.
