The Porterville College Career Education Division is hosting the Summer Jump Start Academy, giving Porterville area high school students a first-hand look at some of the career pathways available at PC.

Summer Jump Start Academy, a four week project-based internship program focused on in-demand careers in the region, provides a curriculum designed specifically for incoming Central Valley high school seniors with an interest in learning more about careers in Hospitality, Technology, Health and Safety.

This year’s Academy has been expanded to include an FAA Part 107 drone pilot course as well as a Culinary Arts Program which provides OSHA-10 Certification.

PC is also hosting a Pre-First Responder program for the second year. This program is designed for students interested in a career as a first responder. Each student receives hands on training in first aid and health, and receives a chance to take “insider” industry tours.

The academy’s overall curriculum is designed to encourage student interest in college and to give students practical knowledge and experience in potential career paths related to industrial professions. Through this unique program, we provide hands-on engagement with potential career paths that will paint a clear future plan for students to follow.

PC’s Jump Start Summer Camp is made possible through a regional partnership between PC, West Hills College Lemoore, College of the Sequoias, and Reedley College. The program, which began on July 8th is taking place on the PC campus through August 1.
