PC PUENTE Celebrates Another Successful Year!

The Porterville College gymnasium buzzed with energy and a strong sense of community as the PC PUENTE program recently held its year-end celebration. Students, faculty, staff, and proud family members gathered for a delicious dinner to commemorate another impactful year for our dedicated Puentistas.

The evening was filled with reflections from PC Staff and administration who emphasized the incredible "familia" that has blossomed within the PUENTE program. Throughout the year, students, faculty, and staff have forged strong bonds, creating a supportive network that extends far beyond the classroom.

Attendees were treated to a recap of the year's activities, showcasing the rich experiences that define the PUENTE journey at Porterville College. From insightful trips and tours of four-year universities – offering a tangible glimpse into future academic pathways – to engaging group gatherings and focused academic enrichment activities, the year was packed with opportunities for growth and connection.

As the Puente Project's mission states, its goal is to "increase the number of educationally underrepresented students who enroll in four-year colleges and universities, earn degrees and return to their communities as leaders and mentors to future generations." The year-end celebration underscores this commitment, highlighting how the program at Porterville College actively fosters these aspirations.

For students enrolled in the program, PUENTE offers a comprehensive support system. Working closely with dedicated counselors, English and Math professors, and community mentors, Puentistas gain invaluable skills and guidance as they prepare for transfer to four-year institutions.

The enduring motto, "Once a Puentista, always a Puentista!" truly captures the lasting impact of this program.
