PC's H.S. Junior Day a Huge Success!

The campus buzzed with excitement on Thursday, March 13th, as we welcomed approximately 1,000 high school juniors from Porterville Unified and Burton School Districts for our inaugural PC Junior Day! The event, which is a reimagined version of our previous Senior Day event, proved to be a resounding success, providing students with an early and engaging look into college life.
The day began with a vibrant welcome session in the gym, where students were greeted with enthusiasm and inspiring words from our keynote speaker, PC Ag Instructor Michael Leishman. The room was filled with energy as students learned about the opportunities awaiting them at Porterville College.
Following the welcome, and in spite of the rain, students headed across campus to meet with different departments and get a taste of what PC has to offer. This interactive experience allowed them to explore PC’s diverse academic programs, student services, and extracurricular activities. From hands-on demonstrations to informative discussions, students were able to envision themselves as future Pirates.
That one on one interaction was a highlight of the day for many, with students asking insightful questions and engaging with faculty, staff, and current PC students. The atmosphere was one of discovery and excitement, as juniors began to see how Porterville College could be a stepping stone towards their academic and career goals.
The day concluded back in the gym with a lively raffle and closing remarks, leaving students with a sense of inspiration and possibility. We were thrilled to see so many bright young minds exploring their future options and taking advantage of this unique opportunity.
PC Junior Day underscores Porterville College's commitment to serving our community and fostering educational opportunities for local students. By providing a comprehensive overview of the possibilities that exist in a college environment, we aim to empower these juniors to dream BIG and pursue their higher education goals. We look forward to seeing many of these students back on campus as future Porterville College Pirates!
