College Safety Training

College Safety offers a wide variety of safety related training to our college communities. We currently prioritize offerings for current students and employees. Below, you will find a description of each training. The blue button at the end of each description is a link that will take you to a signup form with available sessions.

  • Safety Presentations: a series of training presentations, Campus Safety highlighted as crucial safety and security issues and topics affecting students, staff, faculty, and community members to keep safe as possible while on campus or off. Example of topics covered include, Gun safety, summer tips to keep cool, parking lot safety, drug abuse, domestic violence, and much more. Click below to view all available presentations.

Safety Presentations

  • Heartsaver First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Training: PC Training program is currently not available. More information will be provided soon. The course includes cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children, and infants; Chain of Survival; use of an automated external defibrillator (AED); ventilations using a barrier device; importance of teams in a Mult rescuer resuscitation; and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking). It is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and pre-hospital settings. Porterville College partners with the American Heart Association to provide BLS training. This training is provided to current PC students and employees.
  • R.E.D. (Response & Emergency Disaster) Bag Training: The Emergency Responder training teaches responsible individuals’ necessary skills to respond to potential on-campus emergencies, like fire, earthquake, flood, power outage, etc. It also incorporates Porterville Colleges’ Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) with our campus community and local law enforcement agencies. This training is provided to designated Porterville College employees only. Upcoming sessions will be added soon.
  • Campus Security Authorities (CSA): As defined by the Clery Act, College Safety is the Campus Security Authority for Porterville College. Other college personnel may also be required to serve as CSA’s. These are persons to which students and employees should report criminal offenses. This training provides these individuals with the information they need to fulfill the CSA responsibility. This training is provided to designated PC employees. Upcoming sessions will be added soon.
  • C.A.R.T.T. (Campus Advanced Recreational Transportation Training): Training program created for the safe use of campus golf carts. This training aims to teach about blind spots, driving on campus while students, visitors and staff are present, areas where carts are permitted and the safe handling of carts whenever they are in use. This training is provided to all employees and student workers interested in being CARTT certified. Note: if you require student workers to drive carts on a regular or as needed basis it is highly recommended, they take this course. Upcoming Sessions will be added soon.
